The idea to paint 'Still life with Pomegranates' came to me a while ago. So I bought a few and set the still-life on the windowsill as I liked the light and the background of rose bushes in snow . But our Norwegian Forest cat Mika –the King of the house really disliked my idea . It was HIS windowsill and I had absolutely no right to use it even for a while . I hoped half of windowsill would be enough for him ,but he said No .
But my artwork had to be completed and I definitely couldn’t replace it anywhere else . Mika lost all the interest to his other favorite places in the house and wanted to sleep only on that spot –right on pomegranates and cloth – you know it is almost impossible to put drapery twice in the same way . Mika enjoyed jumping on fruits and drapery , pushed them down a few times and really did make my work difficult . Besides snow melted and background changed completely ,so I had to wait for a while until new snow fall and only then was able to finish this painting . Well , I don’t dare to put the setting on that windowsill any more, just put a nice soft mat for His Majesty. |
